"At Waters Edge"

Where the strong waves crash,
where the water laps.
Where the ocean thins out to a silver ribbon,
at waters edge.

My long blonde hair all flowing,
my shorts all soft and frayed.
For all these happy moments,
I hoped and longed and prayed for
at waters edge.

Your blue eyes all bright and sparkly,
like the sea after a storm.
With all my other lovers,
I never quite felt like this before,
at waters edge.

"When will I see you again,
and where will it be?"
I ask you these questions,
as I jump the rocks cautiously,
at waters edge.

"Where else?" he answers with a boyish grin.
"The place where we've talked,
and the place where we've walked with intertwined hands,
where our love has made prints,
all throughout the sand,
at waters edge."
